G-Dragon’s August 18th Comeback delayed due to new MV rating regulations!
Recently, the Korea Media Board implemented a new set of rules regarding pre-screening of new music videos and regulation of content. As a result, G-Dragon’s comeback has been delayed, voiding the previous announcement of an August 18th release date, which also happens to be G-Dragon’s birthday.
YG Entertainment’s CEO, Yang Hyunsuk, explained that because of the new screening and classification system, they were forced to push back the promotion schedule for G-Dragon’s comeback. He explained, “We planned to promote G-Dragon’s comeback with multiple teasers to allow his concept to carry out fully, but with these new regulations, our plans have been disrupted.” He further commented that in order to avoid any future complaints on the comeback schedule, they would need more time to perfect the material and ensure that plans are carried out smoothly.
He continued, “Many K-pop singers have released music videos where they have had to make changes to the video or their choreography. However, it is uncertain whether or not these new changes will allow the public to be more content with comebacks and promotions.”
According to the new rules, starting on August 18th, all music video and teaser videos produced by any entertainment company must be screen by the Korean Media Rating Board before they can be uploaded to Youtube or similar sites. The board will spend seven to ten days evaluating material before reaching a conclusion, but they cannot exceed 14 days. The evaluation committee is made up of seven members who are supposed to represent the different audience types in Korea. If a video is discovered to be uploaded without prior screening, the uploader or company may be responsible to pay fines up to USD 17,000 and even sentenced to 2 years of probation. The board stated that the new policy was put into effect in order to protect the youth.
Meanwhile, YG Entertainment recently announced that they have already finished filming a music video for one of G-Dragon’s upcoming tracks. No further details were given regarding the concept or promotion format.

this is such unbelievable fuckery. they even had multiple teasers planned to give us a full idea of his comeback concept. ugh, i am raaaaaaaaaaaaaaage rn. i’m just glad that gd is with yg, where restricting an artist’s creativity/artistic freedom is a big fat no and this shit just don’t fly. i want gd to throw in a last minute song where he attacks this KMB bullcaca.

srsly, what the ACTUAL FUCK. IS THIS THE 21ST CENTURY OR.
“i’m just glad that gd is with yg, where restricting an artist’s creativity/artistic freedom is a big fat no and this shit just don’t fly”
also, the procrastination of “The board stated that the new policy was put into effect in order to protect the youth.” is completely bullshit. Korean is not a country with all 3-year-old citizens. The whole pre-screening thing is just ridiculous, and August 18, like, seriously, what the fuck.
I’m sooo mad rn. Seriously if you tell young ppl NOT to watch a MV, they will just be more curious about it. And August 18! August 18 like there aren’t enough days in August what the actual fuck. One word: Bullshit. And without those damn regulations we would have seen many teasers, but no no, we’re not even sure anymore if we’ll get it or not, it just makes me sooo upset as a GD stan ok.
ps: I’m very disappointed that G-Dragon won’t get his comeback on his birthday. It would mean so much to him, but no, he can’t have that. seriously ugh.
August 18 couldn’t be a coincidence tbh. it’s an intention. so, fuck.
GD isn’t the type who just sits there being upset. He’d definitely write like 3 songs dedicated to the sub-committee of KMB now. like giselle said.
